MASK PROJECT
ITACiao a tutti!
Volevo condividere con voi che qualche giorno fa abbiamo iniziato un nuovo progetto con YFC Knysna, dove realizziamo maschere per i bambini delle baraccopoli e chiunque ne abbia bisogno nella comunità di Knysna. L’obiettivo è quello di realizzare 12.000 mascherine, così che ogni bambino delle baraccopoli potrà averne almeno una.
Mi sono ritrovata coinvolta in un progetto completamente diverso dai quali solitamente sono abituata a collaborare, e inizialmente mi spaventava un po’ il fatto di dover aiutare in un progetto del genere come aiuto leader, difronte a un gruppo di donne molto più grandi di me, e non bambini.. mi sentivo come fuori dalla mia zona comfort.
Ma in questi giorni mi sto rendendo conto di come quanto questo mi stia facendo crescere, e come è bello essere pronti a servire il Signore in ogni occasione dove c’è bisogno, anche quando non ci si sente all’altezza. Ora come ora mi sta piacendo davvero tanto essere coinvolta in questo piccolo grande progetto.
Le mascherine che realizziamo sono tutte fatte a mano, e le persone che le lavorano sono donne che vengono dalle baraccopoli, donne che non lavorano (causa covid o altri problemi) ma che sulle loro spalle hanno la responsabilità di una famiglia a cui dover dare da mangiare.
Siamo sotto lockdown ormai da un mese, e il 1 Maggio entreremo nella fase 4 di questa quarantena, dove le fabbriche riapriranno e ci saranno più agevolazioni. Per il progetto delle maschere abbiamo delle certificazioni da parte delle autorità che ci permettono di lavorare, ovviamente in condizioni di sicurezza.
I casi di covid in Sudafrica sembrano essere sotto controllo, ma la situazione economica sta portando già tanta crisi, non c’è lavoro e nelle baraccopoli le famiglie fanno fatica a mangiare.
La cosa che mi piace di più di questo progetto è il vedere come ci stiamo conoscendo tra donne e come nonostante il lavoro riusciamo ad avere dei bei momenti di comunione insieme.
Sto crescendo tanto in questi giorni, e imparando molte cose su Dio e su cosa significa fidarsi ciecamente e affidare la propria vita (comprese paure e incertezze) nelle mani del Signore, e questo mi sta dando una grande pace.
Riguardo al mio futuro sto aspettando di ricevere una risposta per il visto (di cui avevo fatto la richiesta qualche mese fa). Il mio desiderio è quello di rimanere e continuare a servire Dio, quindi sto aspettando di ricevere questa risposta per capire dove Dio mi vuole.
Qual ora non ricevessi il visto tornerei in Italia a fine maggio, se dovessi riceverlo invece, rimarrei sicuramente fino ad Agosto… se non di più..

ENGHello dear supporters!
I wanted to share with you all about this new project that we started with YFC Knysna few days ago, in which we are busy making masks for all the kids that live in the township and all the people of the Knysna community in need. Our goal is to make 12.000 masks, so that each township kid will be able to have at least one of them.
At the beginning I was a bit scared to be involved in this project as one of the supervisor, because it-s something completely new from what I am used to do, and I felt like if it was out from my comfort zone. because I-m working with middle age women and not kids..
But in these days I realized how much this opportunity is making me growing, and how amazing it is to serve God no matter what, even when we don't feel worthy for it . I’m really enjoing being involved in this project and see how being out of the comfort zone can make you grow.
The masks that we make are all home made, and the people that are making these masks are women that come from the township and don’t have any jobs, so it’s a good opportunity for them to work, because they have the responsability to feed their families.
We’re under lockdown here in South Africa almost since a mont, and from the 1st of May we will start the phase 4, where there will be less restrictions and many factories will be open again. For this mask project we have special suthorizations from the authorities to work and we do everything under safety rules.
Covid cases in South Africa seem to be under control, but the economy side of it is what is worring many poeple. There’s no job, and especially in the township people struggle to buy food.
The thing that i love the most about this project is how we are getting to know each other, and how it’s not only about working but even a good opportunity to spend time with each other and just support one another.
I feel that I’m really growin ga lot in these days, and I’m learning new things about God, especially what it means to trust Him completely even with your worries and fears, to just give everything to Him, and it’s amazing to see how much peace God gives you.
About my future I’m waiting to hear about my visa, which i apllied for few months ago. My desire is to stay longer and keep serving God here, so it’s gonna be a great answer to know what God wants for me.
If I won’t receive the visa then I’ll come back to Italy by the end of May, and If I’ll get it then I’ll stay here at least until August.. if not even longer..
